Honey grapefruit tea
Grapefruit is recorded in the "Compendium of Materia Medica", "Diet, to remove bad gas in the intestines, detoxify alcohol, treat alcoholism, lack of appetite, bland taste, phlegm, cough and stop coughing", and tea made from grapefruit has been a habit in ancient China and other countries, such as Japan and South Korea. Grapefruit is very nutritious, containing a very rich amount of vitamin C and naringin, with 150 milligrams of vitamin C per 100 grams of grapefruit, which is three times the amount of lemon and tangerine. This is why grapefruit is widely believed to be effective in preventing and treating common colds. As everyone knows, vitamin C has a special effect on common colds and neuralgia. At the same time, the hesperidin rich in grapefruit is similar to vitamin P, and is particularly effective in protecting and strengthening capillaries, and preventing cerebral hemorrhage. The golden yellow peel of grapefruit contains beta-carotene, which is the main source of vitamin A. A grapefruit contains 1500 IU of vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. In addition, the component of naringin makes the grapefruit slightly sour, which is very helpful for eliminating fatigue and promoting the secretion of digestive juices.

Preparation Method
Method 1
Materials
Pomelo: 500 grams (with skin and pith).
Ingredients for Honey Pomelo Tea
Sugar: 100 grams (it is best to use sucrose).
Honey: 250 grams (it is best to choose honey with a light scent such as acacia flower honey, not recommended to use osmanthus honey).
Glass bottles: The best one can hold 1000cc, boil in water for 5 minutes to sterilize and then use.
Steps
1. Soak the pomelo in hot water for about 5 minutes and clean it dry. The hot water should be around 65℃ degrees, feeling warm but not burning, as it helps the skin pores to open up fully, making it easier to clean, peel, and pickle.
2. Use a knife to scrape off the outer yellow-green skin as thinly as possible, try to avoid the white pith inside, as it will be very bitter. Cut the pomelo peel into thin strips, the thinner the better. Then add a little salt to pickle it, which is the essence of pomelo’s expectorant and cough-suppressing properties.
3. Peel out the flesh, remove the seeds and thin skin, and crush it with a spoon or break it by hand, which is very easy to break.
4. Place the pomelo peel, flesh, and rock sugar in a clean pot (it is best to use a non-stick pot), add a bowl of water and boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and simmer until it becomes thick and the pomelo peel turns golden and translucent; stir frequently to prevent sticking, and it takes about an hour. Stop boiling when only a small amount of juice can be scooped up with a spoon, and let it cool.
5. After the thick pomelo sauce cools down, when it is about 65℃ degrees, add honey and stir well (be sure to add honey after the pomelo paste has cooled down, as high temperature can easily destroy the nutrients in honey), pour it into the prepared empty bottle, put it in the refrigerator for about a week, and it will be better after a longer time of refrigeration.
6. It is best to dilute it with warm water when mixing, as this will not destroy the original nutritional components. It can also be eaten as jam, with a unique flavor.
Method 2
Materials
One pomelo, 500g honey, 100g rock sugar, 1 spoon of salt, and an appropriate amount of water.
Steps
1. Rub the pomelo with salt and clean it thoroughly; peel off the pomelo skin, which is the essence of pomelo’s expectorant and cough-suppressing properties.
2. Peel out the pomelo flesh and tear it into small pieces; peel off the yellow skin into thin strips about 3 cm long and 1 mm thick, the thinner the better; soak the cut pomelo peel in salt water for 1 hour.
3. Place the marinated pomelo peel in a pot of boiling water and boil over medium heat for 10 minutes until it softens and the bitterness is removed.
4. Place the cleaned pomelo peel and flesh in a clean and oil-free pot, add a small bowl of water and rock sugar, and simmer over medium heat for 1 hour until it becomes thick and the pomelo peel turns golden and translucent. Pay attention to stir frequently to prevent sticking.
5. After cooling, add honey and stir well to make honey pomelo tea. It can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Just dilute it with warm water when drinking.
Precautions:
The best choice for pomelos is the huzhou pomelo, although it is small, its skin is golden yellow in color, the flesh is fresh and tender, and it has the highest Vc content among pomelos.
