How to find the Yongquan point
It is located at the bottom of the foot, in the indentation on the anterior side of the foot when the feet are curled. It is approximately at the intersection point of the front one-third and the back two-thirds of the line connecting the beginning of the webbing between the second and third toes with the heel.

The Ling Shu Mang Gu Ben Shu says: "The kidney originates from the Yongquan. The Yongquan is the sole of the foot, known as the ‘meeting point of the five elements’.
Acupoint name analysis
涌泉穴. 涌,as it comes out externally. 泉,spring water. The name of this acupoint metaphorically refers to the body’s spleen meridian’s meridian water that rises from this point. This acupoint is the first point of the spleen meridian, and it connects the spleen meridian’s body surface meridian. The super-high water-damp of the spleen meridian body meridian rises from this point, hence the name.
Acupoint selection method
Lie flat, flex the five toes, select the acupoint in the center of the anterior side of the sole, about one-third in front of the sole (excluding the toes), where the front and middle one-third intersect, at the slightly waiting place of the second and third metatarsophalangeal joints.
Simple method
1. The depression one-third in front of the sole of the foot is the acupoint when the toes are plantar flexed.
2. Lie flat or prone, with the five toes curled, flex the sole of the foot, and the center of the depression in front of the sole of the foot (about one-third in front of the center line of the sole) is the acupoint.
Acupoint anatomy
It has short and long flexor tendons, second lumbrical muscle, and deep interosseous muscles; there is a foot arch from the anterior tibial artery; there are nerve branches on the inside of the sole.
Function
Nourish the kidney and Yin, calm the liver and subdue Yang.
Main treatment
Fainting, infantile convulsions, epilepsy, heatstroke, stroke-like, stroke coma, fear, nervous as if someone is going to catch you, forgetfulness, anger, throat swelling, laryngitis, nosebleed, yellow face, vomiting, nausea, chest stuffiness and pain, difficulty urinating, edema, lower abdominal pain, distension, impotence, barrenness in women, shoulder and back pain, lumbar pain, pain in the inner posterior part of the thigh, knee to foot coldness, knee pain, edema of the foot, cholera cramps, pain in the five toes, hot sole, running fetus, and more.
