Where is Yongquan point located
Yongquan point is located in the depression on the anterior aspect of the foot, at the front of the second and third toes, at the beginning of the interdigital crease, and one-third of the line connecting the heel. If you bend your toes with force, the depression on the anterior aspect of the sole is Yongquan point.
Basic concept of Yongquan point
Yongquan point, a human acupoint, belongs to the Kidney Meridian of the foot, Yinxi.
Also known as Dichong point.
The ‘Yongquan point’: ‘Yong’ refers to the external emergence. ‘Quan’ refers to spring water. The name of this acupoint metaphorically indicates that the body’s spleen meridian’s water exits from the skin other than this point. This acupoint is the first point of the spleen meridian’s channel, connecting the spleen meridian’s body surface channel, and the super-high water dampness in the spleen meridian’s body channel exits from the skin other than this point, hence the name ‘Yongquan’.
The ‘Dichong point’: ‘Di’ refers to the earth. ‘Chong’ refers to contradiction. The name Dichong metaphorically indicates that the body’s spleen meridian’s water exits from the skin other than this point. The interpretation is the same as that of Yongquan.
The ‘Jing of the spleen meridian’: ‘Jing’ refers to the pores in the earth. The operation of the Qi in this acupoint is the body’s water from the earth’s pores exiting the skin, so it is the Jing of the spleen meridian.
This acupoint belongs to Wood: ‘Wood’ refers to the five-element attribute mainly manifested by the operation and transformation of the Qi in this acupoint. The substance of this acupoint is the high-temperature dampness on the body’s surface, which, after exiting the skin, becomes a liquid Qi in the heavens due to its dampness. This Qi cannot rise to a higher level in the heavens due to its weight, but only rises to a lower level in the heavens, mainly showing the characteristics of Wood, and is therefore said to belong to Wood.
