Diseases such as wind arthralgia and apoplexy all belong to wind diseases. Clinically, patients may show symptoms such as sudden headache, dizziness, tremors, numbness, deviation of the mouth and eyes, poor speech, and unsteady walking. In severe cases, convulsions and spasticity of the limbs may also occur. These symptoms are usually caused by factors such as poor mood, irregular diet, alcoholism, overindulgence, and external wind, and are known as wind diseases.

1. Wind arthralgia: Attacks by wind, cold, and dampness due to rain or snow can cause joint pain and numbness in the limbs, making movement difficult. The pain location is often not fixed and shows wandering pain, meaning the pain location is prone to change. In traditional Chinese medicine, treatment is generally administered with drugs such as Qin Jiao, Mahuang, Zhu Ling, Sheng Jiang, and Da Zao, which have the effects of dispelling wind, removing cold, removing dampness, and unblocking collaterals, as well as relieving pain.

2. Apoplexy: It can be divided into external wind and internal wind. External wind is often caused by external factors, such as being stimulated by external wind, while internal wind is usually due to the patient’s blood and Qi disorder or brain pulse obstruction, with blood溢出 in the brain pulse, which is commonly known as cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage in traditional Chinese medicine. Patients often have symptoms such as sudden fainting, inability to move half of the body, numbness, and deviation of the mouth and eyes. In this case, the patient may show signs of apoplexy, but it may also be caused by emotional fluctuations, overwork, and other factors. According to the patient’s symptoms, combined with tongue and pulse diagnosis, treatment should be administered. When patients show symptoms such as hyperactivity of liver Yang and disturbance of wind fire, oral medication can be taken under the guidance of a doctor, such as modified Zhen Gan Xing Feng Decoction. If the patient’s symptoms are due to wind-phlegm and blood stasis obstruction, the modified Da Qing Yang Tang can be used for treatment under the guidance of a doctor. If the patient has Qi deficiency and blood stasis, the Bu Yang Huan Wu Decoction can be used for treatment.

Due to the causes of wind disease including wind arthralgia and apoplexy, patients need to undergo blood routine tests, serum antibody tests, X-rays, CT scans, angiography, and other examinations to clarify the condition. The symptoms of common wind arthralgia are relatively mild, while the symptoms of apoplexy are more severe. Special attention should be paid if there is an apoplexy.
