1. Avoid facing

Before copying, come with the most reverent and respectful heart to copy, and it is best to read it aloud first. Since it is here, we should cherish the present moment, as the Zen teaching says. Since we are going to copy the scriptures, we should copy them with the most reverent and respectful heart and, if possible, read them aloud first, which will be better.

2. Need to dedicate

We need to dedicate the merit of copying the sutra, which is to share. We should dedicate the merit of writing the sutra to all sentient beings, wishing that all sentient beings can be freed from suffering and obtain happiness, have right understanding, and even achieve Buddhahood. Regardless of the merit we cultivate, whether it is reciting the sutra, practicing meditation, doing work, or copying the sutra, we must remember to dedicate after each act. As for copying the sutra, it should not be private, but should be shared with all sentient beings in the universe to broaden one’s own mind and make the merit clear.

3. Avoid seeking success in a hurry

The sutra is a method of practice, so the most important thing is to persevere, not to seek success in a hurry, and to cultivate a long-term profound mind. What is profound? It is to persevere and develop good habits!

Now that the elder brother has a certain grasp of the common problems encountered in copying the Sutra of Earth Store, then during the process of copying, the elder brother must prevent such situations from occurring, so that the content copied by the elder brother will be better.

Common problems encountered by women copying the Sutra of Earth Store:

(1) The most important thing about copying the sutra is to be respectful and reverent with your heart. You must understand that everything is sought through respect and reverence, and sincerity will bring success. Whether you want to practice calligraphy and writing with a calm mind or have other needs, you must imitate one stroke at a time. In this way, you can enjoy the joy of nurturing your inner self, feel the beauty of a clean life, and also feel the endless joy and meaning of copying the sutra.

(2) Please wash your hands and choose a clean place before copying the sutra. The table surface where the scroll is placed must be cleaned, and it is best to spread a clean dining tablecloth. When copying, place the milky white printed paper attached to the scroll under both hands to prevent sweat and dirt from soiling the sutra.

(3) Female friends can still copy the sutra during their menstrual period without any effect.

(4) After each copying, read the common dedication verse at the end of the sutra (verbal dedication is sufficient) and then dedicate according to your own wishes.
