Yinlingquan localization

Yinlingquan, belonging to the Spleen Meridian of the Foot Taiyin, is situated on the inner side of the lower leg, in the indentation between the inner edge of the malleolus and the outer edge of the malleolus on the inner side of the ankle joint. It is located between the edge of the ankle joint and the gastrocnemius muscle, at the starting point of the tibialis posterior muscle. In front, there is the great saphenous vein and the most superficial aorta of the knee, and in the deepest layer, there are the posterior tibial artery and vein; it is innervated by the superficial branch of the saphenous nerve of the lower leg, and in the deepest layer, there is the tibial nerve. It mainly treats abdominal distension, diarrhea, edema, jaundice; poor urination, bedwetting, urinary incontinence; pain in the genitals, dysmenorrhea, frequent seminal emission; knee pain. Then, what is Yinlingquan? Let’s learn about it together.

How to locate Yinlingquan

The He point of the Spleen Meridian of the Yin, also known as the Taiyin, is located on the inner side of the lower leg, just below the knee bone. Feel downwards from the knee bone, and the indentation you find is it. Yinlingquan is in the indentation below the malleolus on the inner side of the ankle joint, with one on top and one on the bottom. When you press hard, there is a prominent part on the inner side of the ankle joint, which is also the inner malleolus. Gently pressing behind it, you will find this acupoint. This point is the He point of the Spleen Meridian of the Foot Taiyin and is very beneficial to the body when massaged gently.

The Yinlingquan acupoint is located on the lower leg, in the concave part in front of the knee, on the medial side of the ankle joint, opposite to the Zusanli acupoint (or at the concave part below the medial malleolus at the back and below).

When massaging the Yinlingquan acupoint, place the tip of the thumb on the acupoint, massage clockwise for 2 minutes, press for 30 seconds, and the degree of soreness and distension should be moderate.

3. Yinlingquan acupoint: invigorating the spleen and stomach, benefiting the kidney, and regulating menstruation

The concave part below the medial malleolus. When selecting this acupoint, the patient should choose a sitting or supine posture. The acupoint is located on the lower leg, in front of the knee, in the concave part on the medial side of the ankle joint, opposite to the Yanglingquan acupoint.

. Urogenital system diseases: enuresis, urinary retention, urinary incontinence, urethritis, nephritis, frequent seminal emission, impotence;

2. Gastrointestinal diseases: peritonitis, indigestion, ascites, enteritis, dysentery;

3. Gynecological and obstetric diseases: vaginitis, irregular menstruation;

4. Other: insomnia, knee arthritis, lower limb numbness.

Yinlingquan is one of the key acupoints on the body’s Spleen Taiyin meridian, widely used in the treatment of various diseases. The treatment methods related to this acupoint include: acupoint therapy for knee pain, treatment of diabetes, and more.

1. Kneading

Yinling acupoint is the convergence point of the spleen meridian. Considering the Qi of the spleen meridian from the toes, it can reach a deeper level here, which can invigorate the spleen and remove dampness. It is located just below the knee joint, running along the medial side of the lower leg, at the concave part when bending inward, which is the Yinlingquan. Daily, use your fingers to knead this area, without time constraints, whenever there is spare time, but make sure to spend more than 10 minutes a day. If you have spleen dampness, pressing here will hurt, but if you persist in kneading, you will find that the pain gradually diminishes, indicating that your spleen dampness is improving.

Massaging the Yinlingquan acupoint can make the patient urinate more easily and is also reasonable for the treatment of anal relaxation.

The Yinlingquan acupoint is located on the anterior superior malleolus, on the medial side of the ankle joint, in the concave part (bend the thigh root 90 degrees, the concave part on the medial side of the knee). Massage 100 to 160 times each time, massage once in the morning, afternoon, and evening, and both legs need to be massaged. Generally, it takes two weeks to take effect.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture

Puncture vertically 1 to 2 cun. Treating knee pain can be performed by puncturing Yanglingquan acupoint or Weizhong acupoint.

The human acupoint is one of the researches in contemporary scientific studies. Experimental studies show that needling the Yinlingquan acupoint has a buffering effect on the cerebral cortex. Strong stimulation often causes inhibition throughout the process; weak stimulation causes excitement in more than half of the cases and inhibition in more than half of the cases. For normal people, weak stimulation mostly causes excitement throughout the process, while strong stimulation has a smaller impact. For patients with acute bacillary dysentery, needling Yinlingquan acupoint along with Wailing acupoint has the greatest and fastest increase in the efficacy of plant agglutinin. The Yinlingquan acupoint has the effect of adjusting the bladder tension.
