Auricular acupoints are the Shu points distributed on the ear helix. Also known as reflex points,刺激性 points. When the five internal organs or the body are diseased, there will usually be some reflections at certain positions on the ear helix, such as soreness, masses, discoloration, and conductivity. The use of this situation can be used as a reference for the diagnosis of diseases, or stimulating these reflex points (auricular acupoints) to prevent and treat diseases.

The auricular acupoints are distributed regularly on the ear helix; those corresponding to the upper limb are around the ear; those corresponding to the body are on the auricle body; those corresponding to the lower limb are on the upper and lower bars of the auricle; those corresponding to the abdomen are on the cupula of the auricle; those corresponding to the thorax are on the concha of the auricle; those corresponding to the digestive system are around the auricle’s foot, etc.

1. Ear interior (diaphragm) HX1

Precise localization: At the angle of the auricle, namely auricle area 1.

Application: Skin diseases caused by deficiency of both qi and blood, blood stasis, and blood heat, such as recurrent skin itching and urticaria.

2. Duodenum HX2

Precise localization: On the auricle above the front edge of the auricle’s foot spines.

Application: Constipation.

3. Apex of the Ear HX6, 7

Precise localization: At the top of the auricle where it folds forward.

Application: Various inflammatory reactions in the face, neck, and ear, such as sty, conjunctival swelling and pain, sore throat, facial neuritis, urticaria, eczema, acne, and skin itching, etc.

4. Wind Stream SF1, Zi

Precise localization: In front of the mass of the auricle, in the middle between the finger and the wrist, at the junction of the first and second places of the helix.

Application: Skin allergy, skin itching; urticaria, eczema; acroosteolysis; acne.

5. Sympathetic AH6a

Precise localization: At the junction of the tail end of the lower bar of the auricle and the auricle.

Application: Various symptoms of autonomic nervous system dysfunction, insomnia, easy sweating, facial redness, etc.

6. Uterus (internal reproductive) TF2

Precise localization: In the concave part in the front 1/3 of the triangle fossa.

Application: Irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, menorrhagia; excessive leukorrhea with odor, pelvic inflammation; melasma, acne; obesity.

7. Shenmen TF4

Precise localization: Slightly above the triangle fossa, at the division of the left and right feet of the auricle.

Application: Insomnia, frequent dreams, restless, fatigue; headache, facial pain, toothache; urticaria, eczema, itching; withdrawal syndrome.
