1. There are two types of tetanus shots after injury: one is the common special tetanus antitoxin, which can cause anaphylactic shock, so a skin allergy test must be performed before injection: the other is tetanus human immune globulin, which has no allergic symptoms and does not require a test before injection. Regardless of which type your child receives, as long as there are no adverse reactions, there is no need to worry.

2. The wound is not prone to tetanus infection. Clostridium tetani is a Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which belongs to a conditionally pathogenic bacterium. It only grows under anaerobic conditions or in deep wounds with aerobic bacteria.

The condition is prone to growth and reproduction. Clostridium tetani grows mostly in soil and rust, so when the wound is deep and contaminated with soil or injured by copper utensils with rust, tetanus antitoxin should be injected.

3. If it is just a superficial skin injury, the wound is not deep. If appropriate debridement is performed, it is not necessary to inject tetanus antitoxin. Or use some disinfectant water such as mercuric chloride to wipe the wound. If the wound is dry and there is no leakage, there is no need to wash it again.

4. Since tetanus antitoxin is a horse serum immunity, it is a foreign protein to the body and has antigenicity (allergic symptoms), so a skin allergy test should be performed before taking the medicine. If the test result is negative, tetanus antitoxin can be injected immediately. If the test result is positive, antiallergic injections should be conducted, that is, tetanus antitoxin is injected in 4-5 doses. If tetanus antitoxin has been used for more than a week, a skin test must be re-administered before reuse.

The commonly said tetanus vaccination is maintained through passive immunity, that is, after encountering possible infections, the method of maintaining through injection of tetanus antitoxin is to obtain maintenance. The common Chinese herbal preparations are: 1) Tetanus antitoxin (TAT, from horses). 2) Human tetanus immune globulin (TIG, from humans). The former requires a skin test, and the latter does not require a skin test. They are slightly more expensive, costing tens of yuan, and generally within the psychological and financial range of ordinary people.
