Acute infection of two adjacent potential spaces on the deep surface of the palm caused by deep palm injury or extension of suppurative tenosynovitis.
The palm interosseous space is a loose tissue space located between the palmar flexor tendons and the deep surface of the bursa, which is divided into the ulnar palmar middle space and the radial thenar space by the fibrous septum connected to the third metacarpal bone. The symptoms are severe, with swelling of the palm, disappearance of the palm pit, slight finger curvature, marked tenderness, and limited active and passive finger movement, causing severe pain. The back of the hand may swell明显, and patients often have varying degrees of fever, headache, and increased white blood cell count.
